I learned this job the slow way: a web development degree at Manchester Metropolitan with UX design modules alongside the code, then straight into agency life in 2019. No autocomplete finishing my functions - just fundamentals, documentation, and tight deadlines that teach you fast.
Then AI changed the job, and I let it. Adopting Claude Code and Codex made me faster at the parts that were always mechanical, and more valuable at the parts that never were: architecture, judgement, and knowing when the generated answer is quietly wrong. That's the difference between a developer and a vibe coder.
Today I sit between build and strategy at MOI Global - shipping front-end for Meta, Oracle, NICE, Stibo Systems, Fujifilm etc. while building the automation and research tooling that feeds the work upstream.
