03 How I work

Four steps, in order.

How I build websites, in order: get the foundation right, then SEO and performance fundamentals, then UX and UI design, then the interactive extras.

- Content/strategy: the page's actual job - lead-gen, portfolio, e-commerce, blog. Each with completely different priorities baked into every later decision.

- Audience: who's arriving, what do they already know, what do they want?

The fastest, best-designed page is still ineffective if it's solving the wrong problem for the wrong person.

- Fast page: optimized images (WebP/AVIF), minimal JS blocking, lazy loading, good Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP).

- Good SEO: semantic HTML, proper heading hierarchy, meta tags, structured data, clean URLs.

Nothing else matters if nobody finds the site or leaves before it loads.

- UX: clear navigation, logical flow, obvious CTAs, accessibility (contrast, keyboard nav, screen readers.)

- UI: visual hierarchy, consistent spacing/typography, a design system instead of one-off styling.

This is where trust gets built - a clean, coherent interface signals credibility before a single word is read.

- Micro-interactions: scroll effects, hover states, subtle motion.

- Enhance, don't distract: a parallax effect that tanks performance or confuses navigation contradicts steps 2 and 3.

It's what makes a good site memorable, but it can't compensate for a slow or confusing one.
